Dancers’ Theatre Company . . . a moving experience
is a non profit 501(c)(3) children’s and
young adult creative process performing company of gifted and talented
children from 6 – 18 years of age. These children have had a minimum
of three years in modern dance instruction and relentlessly create art
in all forms, particularly Modern Dance.
The Dancers’ Theatre Company presents children’s works and
the emerging artistic works of its’ faculty and staff in legitimate
proscenium theatre. . These young artists not only learn the skills and
art of modern dance, choreography and improvisation but the language of
emotional and social
literacy. Many children create their choreographies from the painting
and poetry they design and form. Many children create the music for their
expression. Dance is the perfect format for the artistically talented.
You don’t have to be a dancer to dance and create dance. (Refer
to Bill T. Jones). Many of these children choreograph life’s biographies.
DTC’s Repertory, i.e., Choreographers Concert for Celebration of
the Child, Tresses of a Day Star, Desert Ocean Dance, And, Let There Be
Light, Children of the Rainbow Garden are all three act plays of dance
music and art in proscenium stage performance or black box staged at one
of Salt Lake’s finest performance halls, Rose Wagner Center for
the Performing Arts, Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah Campus,
Salt Lake Art Center, or the Capitol Theater. Additional community performance
opportunities and staging are given during the year such as the Celebration
of Life at Kingsbury Hall for one of the students who was taken in the
2004 tsunami. Various services for Multiple Sclerosis, Natural Disaster
and Native American Grandmother’s and National Conferences such
as World Future’s Conference, AAPHERD, and The Child as the Artist-Dance
and The Child Conferences in Hawaii, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, San Francisco,
Tucson, Arizona, University of Southern Utah in Saint George, Utah, etc.
Ninety-seven percent of all our graduates go on to colleges and universities.
Of that 97%, 94% go on some one or more scholarships. We congratulate
our graduates for their sincerity and commitment in their quality of education
and living.
Children who claim an interest or demonstrate giftedness through audition
are offered placement in Dancers' Theatre Company….a moving experience.
Watch for information about “Opal” which is a new dance play
written by Pearl Wagstaff-Garff and will be performed in June, 2006.
